Grant Wood from Iowa

This article is interesting reading about Grant Wood whose painting, American Gothic, is the second most recognizable artwork in the world. Mona Lisa is the first. I'm not sure, but I think the mural in the Marion, Iowa "old" post office on 8th Avenue may have been one of his. What do you suppose he would think of some of the many variations of his painting?
