There are over 600 acres of these approximately 8 foot by 30 foot mounds that were covered by grasses, a few saplings and many dainty wildflowers when we were there yesterday. These Mima Mounds may have been caused by earthquakes, volcanic action, glaciers or gophers - yes, burrowing gophers is one of the many theories.
